Is it so lucky for women to be protected by men, even if they would have a lower social status if they don't try to show their will and confidence? Partly
because of some historical reasons but mostly self-reasons, many intellectual ladies prefer to be the ones who are always under charged but not leaders. Some may think of Wu Zetian, the first female emperor in China history, which was also the last and only one.1 In order to help women to have more assertiveness to pursuing leadership, volunteer work in their community even the society is critical for their change.
The government has tried to raise the women’s sense and ability through laws on protection as well as courses on self-development teaching. Laws and regulations for women’s rights are becoming perfect, which provide them with a fundamental guarantee to development. In addition, women have access to different kinds of courses about how to choose their career and make progress in their career. Those methods indeed have some influences, however, they don’t have a good effect in driving them into leadership because they are still lack of assertiveness as they think that all they can try to affect is just themselves.
Women should be told that how to be more assertive and have more social concerns, and participating more volunteer work in their community is one. Through volunteering for their community even the society, women can find they can affect others using their intellects, which is conducive to building their confidence. Besides, volunteering work make people have a realization that they are not only a member of
their own family but also of the society. As a sense of responsibility is built in their mind, they will try to perform as better as possible in their career, and to be more powerful to help more people, which drive them to develop their leadership.
Some people might say that many women have done numbers of volunteer work in their communities but they still don’t want to be leaders. That might be true, however, doing volunteer work is the first step they should take to help them built the sense of responsibility of society. After they make this sense stronger they can try to make it to be a sense of leadership.
If more and more women can devote themselves into volunteer work, more female leaders will turn up in all kind of careers because of their assertiveness. Some leaders are made for the society, but they won’t be only male any more. The first thing women can do is that find a volunteer work you like and commit yourselves on it.
