当前，网络对青年的危害主要集中到两点，一是某些人实施诸如诈骗或性侵害之类的犯罪，二是黄色垃圾对青年的毒害。据有关专家调查，互联网上非学术性信息中，有47%与色情有关，网络使色情内容更容易传播。据不完全统计，60%的青年虽然是在无意中接触到网上黄色信息的，但自制力较弱，年青人往往出于好奇或冲动而进一步寻找类似信息，而深陷其中。网络的迅速发展，给不法商人带来了可钻的空子。不少的色情、暴力、赌博等不良网站应运而生。其次，网络带来了人与人之间的许多纷争。因为对于网络，中国政府出台的政策不够完善，所以有许多关于知识产权的问题在源源不断地产生。网络带给人们的不仅是思想上无形的伤害，对于许多网民的健康也造成
不可忽视的伤害。在电视上我们就曾经多次看到这样的报道：某某青年由于上网玩游戏时间过长，造成下身忽然瘫痪、不能动弹，严重的还有休克昏迷的例子。由于电脑对于人体的辐射，如果人长时间地坐在电脑前不活动，就极容易造成种种难以预期的身体上的伤害。最显著的就是对于视力的损害。
纸上的媒体仍然发挥着很大的作用，是因为它有意识地剪接与整合了各种新闻娱乐以及广告信息，提供了非常明了的有用信息。网络上的信息储量和翻新速度虽有极大的优势，但恰恰因为此处的优势，人们需要另外花费一些成本来进行挑选甄别，以便寻到自己所需要的东西，以致于额外地支付了许多时间和精力，不仅如此，人们常常流连于某些垃圾和无用的信息上却没有得到足够的益处，网络通常只是充当浅尝的境地，不可指望于此成就你的强大梦想，光阴从来匆迫，务请适时上网。
