What is a friend? Some people say that a friend is one that is close to you, or a good companion to you. In my view, a friend is the one that will stand by you, even through the hardest times.Friendship is one of the greatest pleasure that people can enjoy. It implies(意味着) loyalty(忠诚), cordiality(热诚), sympathy(同情心), affection and readiness(愿意) to help.
Yes,friendship plays an important role in our daily life.For one thing,we Chinese have a saying:"At home we count on parents, staying out we count on friends." That means nobody is utterly independent in the world. As long as you are still alive, you'll suffer from difficulties and setbacks. Sometimes you may feel helpless, and want someone to get you out of troubles then give you a hug ,cheer you up and say something like"Go for it" or "Come on, you are almost there!" to encourage you and make you feel better. As we say, a friend in need is a friend indeed. So we call these friends bosom friends. Even though you may see each other once a year or once every five years.However, it's OK, because your mind has always been together, and you'll never forget each other. This is why we say: a hedge between keeps friendship green.
For another thing, let's make an assumption about it, you have an apple and your buddy have a pear, you cut them in half, then you give your buddy half of the apple and he gives you half of the pear, so you two have both apple and pear. Similarly, if you share your happiness with your close friend , and he shares his happiness with you, you will have two shares of happiness. As for pain, when you feel painful, you will tell your acquaintances that you feel dispirited, so that your pain will be reduced, That's true.
Since friendship is so significance ,how can we keep a good friendship?
I think honesty must be the most basic.We all should use our heart to treat our friends.If you always tell lies to your friends,they will be away from you gradually.Then,communication also play an important role in your friendship.You should always communicate with them.You can can enhance feelings with them,which can help promote feelings.There also many factors which make a different,such as enthusiasm,friendly,justness and so on.

The friend is the person who holds your beer bottle saying that he/she only drinks a little and there is only a little left for you.

The friend is the person who there is decisive evidence that he/she is sorry to you, but you still say, “ I don’t believe it. “ without the least hesitation.
The friend is the person who if he/she is really sorry to you, you will forgive him/her, and you are convinced that he/she has no choice but to do it.
The friend is the person who you will ask for help when you are in difficulties, and if you don’t ask him/her, he/she will be angry with you.
The friend is the person with whom you sit covered the blanket, drinking tea or wine and have a deep conversation.
The friend is the person who will come back no matter how far it is, only because of you making a telephone to him/her.{what,is,friend}.
The friend is the person who you will never say thanks to, and he/she will never say the same words to you.
The friend is the person who you certainly feel satisfied with him/her.
A man can have lots of friends but only a few indeed friends. We should
cherish them when we have. It is lucky of me that I have so many friends all my life.

Nowadays we may have many friends.But are they your real friends?What is a real friends?Does he/she must have a perfect grade?Does he/she must be good-looking?Does he/she must have power?We may not have a socially acknowledged criteria for what makes a person a real friend. First a real friend must be loyal.Without it,we may be cheated by friends and it will hurts us heavily.True friendship based on loyalty.Second a real friend will make you happy and comfortable when you together.You can share your personal feelings with them and talk private things to them without worrying that they will laugh at you or tell someone else.Last but not least,a real friend will make progress with you.You can encourage each other to be better in any situation.
So in my opinion,a real friend must be loyal,make you relax and make both of you better.It’s difficult to find a real friend for people only care about themselves.But if you treat them sincerely they will treat you the same way.

We all like to make friends, because no one can survive without a friend. If you ask someone how many friends do they have, most will answer a lot. Indeed, we make friends in different stage, even we are old, we still make friends. But not all friends are as honest as they are, some friends we made since we are young, some are just meet a couple of times and we don't know much about them. The former are real friends, while the latter are not true friends. What is the real friend, a real friend is someone who you can talk about anything and can be show up the moment you need.
