如何写好学生的英语作文的评语

现在,学生英语写作水平的高低是对学生英语综合运用能力的评价指标之一,这已经受到了英语老师的普通重视,在作文教学中教师们可谓“八仙过海,各显其能”,但在对学生作文进行评价时,多数教师只是给学生一个分数或等级,很少能像中文教师那样,在学生的作文后写上自己对学生作文比较具体和明确的看法或意见的。其实,教师的评语是对学生英语书面表达能力和自主学习情况的评价和指导。我在作文评改中借鉴中文教师的做法,用英语写评语,让学生在真实的英语交际环境中,书面语能力也能得到提高。实际上,教师为学生的英语作文写评语,不仅有利于提高学生的英语书面交际能力,而且有利于促进师生的知识,思想和情感交流,还有利于提高学生自主学习的积极性,下面,笔者就如何写英语评语谈一点看法和体会。

1、适时恰当地评价

老师应及时地批改作文,及时了解学生的学习进步状况和学习效果,以便掌握情况,进行指导。有些学生在作文中写到了一些自己遇到的特殊的问题和想法,他们盼望老师的评价和指导,所以教师应急学生之所急,及时地给予恰当的评价。教师在写评语时使用的词汇和语法知识不能过高或过低于学生的现有水平,最好能及时地应用学生新近学到的词汇和语法,这样有助于学生对新知识加深理解和强化记忆,也可让学生看到知识如何在实践中运用。当然评语中偶尔也可以有几个生词,有时候学生通过上下文就能理解,有时学生查字典来解决,这样做也利于学生的猜词能力的提高和扩大词汇量,有时适当地用英语习语或谚语写评语,使学生更多地感悟英语的简洁和优美。

笔者有一次和一位学生谈心,她告诉笔者,她以前几乎不写英语作文,但有一次心情好,写了一篇,老师给了她一个Excellent的评语,自从那以后她对英语作文产生了极大的兴趣。她的话语对笔者的启发很大,事实上评语是一种批阅的方式,也是提高英语写作能力中的一个重要环节,它便于学生更加清楚地了解自己在英语作文中的优缺点,有利于沟通师生之间的情感,调动学生的写作积极性,促进学生养成良好的写作习惯。

教师在写英语评语的时候,总是一成不变地使用综合类评语,如“great”,“good”等。起始阶段对学生有一定的激励作用,但若千篇一律的话,就会使学生无法正确认识自己的写作水平,并最终导致学生对教师的这类评价视而不见。

那么如何写好英语作文评语?笔者就英语作文评语方面谈一点自己的看法。

第一,和谐民主性评语

评语是写给学生看的,所以必须使用学生能看得懂的英语来写,要切合学生的实际,符合学生的个性和心理发展。每个学生在思想意识、行为标准等方面都很具有个性化色彩的成分,他们最想得到教师的认同和尊重。教师要让学生在评语中能领悟出教师对他是否关心、有信心和责任心。如“You can do better now than you did before.”“The content of your writing is great, but I hope you can pay attention to the use of punctuations.”“You are a smart girl/ boy. If you put all your heart into study, you will succeed.” “You are a boy/girl full of ambitions, so I hope you can have a bright future.” 因此教师要充分利用作业评语,加深师生情感交流。评语应言辞恳切,切中要害;或热情鼓励、或委婉告诫……通过评语,教师尽可把祝福、问候、关切、激励、真诚、信任之情化作甘甜的泉水,去滋润学生的心田,引起师生教与学的共鸣,达到教与学两者的和谐与统一。

第二,激励沟通性评语

鼓励性评语的作用主要是保护和培养学生的英语作文兴趣和自信。教师们都知道,大多数学生害怕英语写作,但一旦学生得到了被尊重、被表扬、被认可的需要时,他们的写作热情就能倍增。希望得到教师的表扬和鼓励,这是学生精神上的需要。作文较差的学生,很容易在这方面心灰意冷,而丧失进取心,所以他们更需要鼓励性的评语。这就要求教师要善于发现局部的闪光点,只有大到全篇的审题立意、构思和过渡,小到开头结尾、一句话、一个词,甚至一个标点,去寻找值得表扬学生的点点滴滴。值得注意的是,这些表扬必须是真实的、准确的,如果让学生看出有一点勉强,就会挫伤其自尊心,就适得其反了。

绿色英语作文评语

作文是书面语言,作文教学旨在提高学生的书面表达能力。但是在听、说、读、写这四项基本技能中,写作一直是一项薄弱环节。学生听到作文头痛,看到作文心烦;教师批改作文头痛,写起评语心烦。因此,应该探索这种令师生“头痛”“心烦”的病因,对症下药,作文教学才有改观的可能。

新一轮课改理念,使得教师更重视学生学习的自主、协作与感悟,并获得了不小的成果。然而对于作文评价中的点睛之笔——作文评语,却往往成为教学过程中被遗忘的角落,未能充分发挥其应有的功能。究其原因,主要有师生双方消极的晕轮效应以及作文评语中感情要素的欠缺。传统的作文评语批评多于表扬,纠错多于激励,令学生感到单调、无聊,产生压抑、恐惧、恼怒等负情感体验,从而对培养学生的写作能力产生干扰作用。
