Every Spring festival,my aunt who are live far from us goes back to my
grandmother’s home to have a reunion,because the filial piety have influenced her deeply.
And another example of the impact of filial piety on modern Chinese family relationships are about me.Although I live far away from my parents and my parents are not too old now, I call them frequently to ask them to take care of themselves and I miss them every day. Every time,before I have to make a decision,I will solicit their opinions to show my respect for them.
The filial piety make the family become more harmonious and make the relationship between each family member closer. It is necessary for us to develope and expand upon the filial piety. Without filial piety in our life, our duty of the family would disappeared,and the warmth that family brings to us would also disappeared.

When Socrates Meets Confucius
Common people come to the world with nothing, and leave with nothing. Great people come to the world with nothing, but they’ll leave with endless possibilities. Socrates and Confucius are such great people. Assuming these two wise individuals with their regional thoughts deeply in mind meet one day, what kind of spectacle will happen on them or even in the two countries, especially in China?
Firstly, Chinese will gradually realize the importance of the establishment of the legal system. The Confucianism centered on morality. It emphasizes that morality is much more important than the law, which inversely causes the citizen’s law consciousness to be light. While the Socrates lived in a more law-based country, comparing to the virtue, he attached greater importance to the legislation. So, when Socrates meets Confucius, he will share his legal awareness with Confucius and finally blend it to the Chinese culture. Secondly, Chinese will deal with things in a more rational and scientific way. In ancient China, most people are superstitious. The Confucianism spread some kind of mysterious figure, such as the god and the fairy. So, many times when it came to something difficult to deal with or
explain to the civilians, the rulers may choose to advocate the illusory theology to comfort them. This kind of handling will only cover up the facts in short term. While Socrates’ thought is scientific, he may have an absolutely different way to deal with the same thing. Thus, when Socrates meets Confucius, as the days progressed, Chinese will be more rational and no longer depend on the so called god to bless for a good life, but try to work hard on their own.
Thirdly, Chinese culture will be more inclusive and exoteric in academic. The Confucianism is almost authoritarian in the ancient times, especially in the Qing dynasty, which limited the development of other schools. Whereas the Socrates treats the academic in a broader way, he recognizes the freedom of learning. Therefore, when Socrates meets Confucius, Chinese culture will develop in a more inclusive and exoteric way. Different thoughts will integrate and the Chinese culture will“sparking”.
In conclusion, if Socrates meets Confucius, great changes must have happened to China in the establishment of the legal system, the rational and scientific Chinese manners of dealing with things and the more inclusive and exoteric Chinese culture.

When Socrates Meets Confucius
It is universally acknowledged that Socrates, the great ancient Greek philosopher, has imposed profound and far-reaching influence on the world with his ideas in education, moralizing and politics while Confucius, kind of Socrates’s counterpart in ancient China, is regarded as the greatest sage whose ideas have laid the foundation for Chinese thinking pattern. And since they were both fond of traveling around the county to advocate their thoughts and ideas, there could be a chance that Socrates traveled to ancient China and came across Confucius who was teaching his students, then two great minds met and discussed about their ideas of education.
The most possible matter they may discuss is the ideal teaching method, also the one they were practicing. Socrates introduced Maieutics or Socratic Method to Confucius, and he insisted that every man has got his innate knowledge in his mind which is just like the baby in a pregnant woman’s body, and the teachers’ work is supposed to be help the students to give birth to that innate knowledge. In other words, he made conversations with the students to arouse the hidden knowledge in their minds by asking questions to make them aware of their ignorance and leading them to find the truth. And judging Confucius’s way of teaching by this standard, Socrates criticized Confucius for telling the students what’s true directly sometimes. Then Confucius would answer him with
one sentence,” I would not give any guidance to them until they reach to the point that they must figure out it; I would not inspire of enlighten them if it isn’t that they have understood it but can’t express it correctly and completely; I would give them no more examples if they can’t draw inferences about other cases from one instance ”. Here, both of them focus on enlightenment. Socratic Method is based on the presumption the students acquire knowledge in the very way he has assumed, i.e. like pregnant women giving birth to babies, but actually students acquire knowledge in various ways, we can’t simply imagine or take it as granted that they all learn things in the same way, and treat them with one teaching strategy.
And that brings them to the next question–educating students in accordance with their aptitude and cognitive rules.
Confucius started by tell one example: both his students Zilu and Ranyou came to ask him that when they heard something whether they should put it into practice immediately, and he told Zilu not to practice it while he encouraged Ranyou to do it. He explained that Zilu was an adventurous man, so I told him to be cautious, but Ranyou was a little timid, so I encouraged him. Confucius pointed out that he got to know his students better though observing them and talking with them, and then he gave guidance to them according to his understanding of their aptitude. And when Socrates wanted to justify himself by saying that his Maieutics did
help to arouse the students’ innate intelligence, Confucius could make him speechless by asking,＂what if the student shakes his head in answer to all questions? You still don’t give him a clue?＂ Indeed, different students follow the different cognitive pattern when they approach the world around them. Today we have many different theories with regard to the human cognition such as Theory of Tabula Rasa and Constructivism, we can not tell which one is right or wrong, because the only way to judge them is whether it is suitable for the individuals. Teachers in the modern society should bear in mind that there is no fixed teaching method, so we should apply flexibly different teaching methods to deal with different students based on an in-depth understanding of their cognitive style.

Currently, we could hardly live a single day without seeing a celebrity spokesperson promoting a product or a social campaign on TV, net or other media. This is an intensely popular trend that we cannot fail to notice. There is no doubt that the celebrity spokespeople could boost the sale of a product. A host of celebrity spokespersons, however, have emerged as the marketing tool of some companies, even companies producing and selling fake and inferior items. This kind of behavior has produced negative impacts on consumers and whole society, which should be severely criticized and penalized. Of course, as is known to all, everything has both bright and dark sides. Some stars’ endorsement of social activities and public campaigns raises public awareness, giving rise to changes in public behavior. In this case, they serve as positive role models of the general public. To name only one case: Pu CX, a household figure, acting as the celebrity spokesman of the China AIDS Foundation, contributes greatly to the cause of AIDS prevention and cure in China.

Over the past couple of years, a variety of talent shows have emerged on TV channels across the nation, from Super Girls to Happy Boys and so forth. This type of entertainment program is intensely popular, especially among young adults and has produced profound impacts on their studies and life. There are a couple of reasons behind the tide. To start with, young folks need role models to learn from. So many of them are crazy for contestants participating in these programs. This gives rise to the increasing emergence of these shows because TV networks naturally need to cater to young audiences. Plus, thanks to economic and political reforms carried out by the government, this crop of young generation have more freedom and desire to express and showcase themselves. Therefore, a growing number of young people desire to get involved in these shows.
This is a divisive topic. On my personal level, the talent show is a superb means of relaxing and amusing and can hugely relieve our strains. As college students, however, we could not afford to indulge in them and should be aware of the utmost importance of studies.

On the Food Security
Over the past couple of years, several cases of the food scandal have been disclosed on various media. The problem of food security has become a hot button across society. The prevalence of food insecurity has greatly impacted public health, which the government could not afford to ignore, according to the online edition of the People Daily.
There are a couple of driving forces, I would argue, behind this
undesirable tide. First, in the course of the rapid economic evolution, we ignore moral education, giving rise to the rising rate of the problem. More importantly, the lack of adequate regulation and punishment on those illegal producers enforces the trend.
As Confucius instructed, it is better late than never. Prompt and strict measures should be taken to turn back this evil trend. The government should launch a massive moral campaign to educate all citizens and draw up tougher laws to crack down on those irresponsible corporations and prohibit them from entering the food industry again. I am firmly convinced that through our combined efforts we are bound to enjoy more risk-free foods in the days ahead.

On Uncivilized Behaviors
We cannot fail to notice that countless uncivilized behaviors exist in our daily lives, such as spitting, talking loudly, littering, saying nasty words in public places and so forth. All these are bad manners that we should not lose sight of. As an ancient land enjoying a splendid
civilization spanning over 5,000 years, China is witnessing a surge in improper acts that every Chinese citizen should feel ashamed of.
Uncivilized behaviors by a host of Chinese both at home and abroad have seriously affected China’s image, according to an editorial posted on People Daily’s official website.
As Chinese, we should not get offended when others point out our weaknesses but should focus more attention on improving ourselves. We should strive to identify the causes of those improper behaviors and find ways to eliminate them. There are a host of causes, I would argue, behind this trend. To name only one: the lack of moral education. The government should wage a massive moral campaign to fight against this trend and we ourselves should endeavor to behave decently in our daily lives. As college students of the new age, we should take the leading role.

On college campuses across the nation, there is a noticeable phenomenon that we cannot afford to ignore: far too many young college students lack the sense of gratitude, one of the countless traditional virtues of this ancient land with a splendid civilization spanning over 5,000 years. These young adults were not and are not aware of the huge importance of expressing gratitude to those who once helped them, from teachers to parents and so forth.
Personally, I deem that the root cause of students without a graceful heart is that they receive an education not valuing the moral sphere. I strongly believe that joint efforts from folks across society are the final remedy for this social headache. As young university students of the new era, we should make our own contributions to this cause. Imagine a world without the sense of gratitude. This kind of world is doomed to failure. Simply put, we should join our hands to heighten our awareness of fostering a graceful heart. Only in this way can we build our society into a harmonious one.
